I use both a nail trimmer and a nail grinder to trim nails. Some K9s prefer one over the other some K9s let me use both. I always do whatever the K9 is most comfertable with. Unlike a grooming shop I do not charge extra for grinding the nails. Using a nail grinder is beneficial for two reasons. One I am able to get the nail significantly shorter without bleeding the quick and two after trimming nails are sharp and can scratch their human friends arms and legs. Grinding sands the nails down and give them a smooth edge so they are less likely to scratch.
Some dogs do not like their nails being cut and can get upset even at an at home appointment. I always try to trim the nails gently first but if a dog really gets that upset about it I do have the option of using a muzzle but I always leave that decision up to the owner.
I Recommend Having Your K9s Nails Trimmed Every 2-6 Weeks Depending On How Fast They Grow
